Van der Avoird Trayplant is the winner of the Horticulture Entrepreneur Prize 2023, the unique prize for innovative entrepreneurship in the horticulture sector. Using an innovative four layer system, they grow soft fruit (strawberries and raspberries) on one hectare to give the same yield as 240 hectares. Theelers has won the ‘New crops, new applications’ theme prize. They use the waste streams from greenhouse growers to create tea blends in order to contribute to the circularity of the horticulture sector. Minister Piet Adema of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality presented the prize today in Koppert Cress’ fossil-free greenhouse in Westland.

2022: Wijnen Square Crops wins Horticulture Entrepreneur Prize 2022

Wijnen Square Crops is the overall winner of the 35th edition of the Horticulture Entrepreneur Prize. These growers from Limburg will act as ambassadors for the horticulture sector for a whole year. Managing director Pieter Wijnen was presented with the prestigious prize at the well-attended event at Floriade in Almere on 21 April.

Cooperative growers association Prominent is the overall winner of the 34th edition of the Horticulture Entrepreneur Prize. These tomato growers will act as ambassadors for the horticulture sector for a whole year. Jack Groenewegen, chairman of the cooperative, was presented with the prestigious prize by Wiebe Draijer, group chairman of Rabobank. The prizegiving took place during the horticulture sector’s well-attended New Year event in Keukenhof, Lisse on 8 January.
