The 32nd edition of the Horticulture Entrepreneur Award has been won by Royal Lemkes in Bleiswijk. This leading company may call itself the ambassador from the horticulture sector for one year.
Royal Lemkes received the prestigious entrepreneur award for daring, perseverance and sustainable business practices during the well-attended New Year's event on 10 January in Keukenhof, Lisse.
With its strong company identity and innovative activities, Royal Lemkes serves as a role model for the horticulture sector. The judges found that the entrepreneurs show initiative and take responsibility for many projects that make the company and the supply chain more sustainable. Royal Lemkes encourages clustering of group transport per region, which reduces the number of transport movements. Royal Lemkes enters sustainable relationships with its suppliers and custormers. Additionaly, the company limits its own carbon footprint and supplies generated solar energy to its personnel. The staff management policy is unique, whereby the starting point is that the focus is on them and their environment. From that position, the company and its staff serve their customers. Royal Lemkes has a solid management team, each with his or her own expertise.
