De Lepelaar nominated
Organic dynamic growers Jan, Inge, Reinout Schrijver and Joris Kollewijn grow cabbage, beetroots, carrots, potatoes and corn at their 70-ha outdoor and greenhouse horticulture company. The size of the company enables them to offer space to ‘forgotten vegetables’ and for growing herbs. Sustainability is a common thread running through the company, and its main mission is to work on soil fertility.
The jury explains: ‘De Lepelaar produces organic vegetables whilst playing plenty of attention to soil fertility, biodiversity and landscape quality, and is making steady progress with its vision and ideals. This requires plenty of courage and perseverance. De Lepelaar has become a mature organic company in a rapidly growing sector, but the entrepreneurs bear market development and product quality in mind at all times’.
The De Lepelaar’s nomination is supported by Triodos Bank, Bejo Zaden and Demeter.
