Horticulture incomes have fallen
Income in the horticulture sector has fallen considerably compared to the preceding three years. Despite this substantial fall, it is high compared to the period 2001-2014. Greenhouse vegetable growers top the list, followed by pot and bedding plant growers and cut flower growers. Flower bulb growers saw their income fall, but it remains at a good level. Tree nurseries saw their income rise as a result of recovery in sales yields and increased scale. Fruit growers’ income fell compared to 2017, but that was a peak year. Field vegetable growers also saw their income fall, but it is still well above the long-term average.
