It was a good year for the horticulture sector. The Netherlands was again the world’s largest exporter of seeds and young plants in 2019, with an export value of 3 billion euro. In terms of flower and plant exports from the Netherlands, 2019 was again a record year at a figure of 6.3 billion euro. Germany and the United Kingdom are still the biggest destination countries.
The production value of Dutch fruit and vegetables rose by 7% to 3.7 billion euro. The input value rose by 3% to 7.9 billion euro. 11.9 billion euro worth of fruit and vegetables were exported, mainly within Europe.
